Yumi Ando, M.D.
Dr. Yumi Ando grew up in New York City, attended Harvard College where she majored in East Asian Studies, received a Masterís in Public Health from the University of Michigan, and continued westward to California to attend medical school at Stanford University. Dr. Ando completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Stanford in 1999 and joined the Menlo Clinic in Menlo Park before moving to Washington, D.C. to work at the U.S. State Department, where she received a Meritorious Honor Award for her coordination and oversight of refugee health programs. In 2005, she returned to the Bay Area and joined the Palo Alto Medical Foundation (PAMF) with the Encina Practice, a small concierge medicine group. She remained at PAMF until October 2015, when she left to join BlueWave Medicine, an integrative medical practice, as Medical Director of the Palo Alto office. She is now thrilled to be joining Caras Health.
Dr. Ando is passionate about patient care. She takes a holistic approach, focusing on stress management, exercise, healthy eating, good sleep and optimal mental health. Formally trained in acupuncture, Dr. Ando enjoys combining western and eastern forms of healing to individualize the care she provides for her patients. Dr. Ando is boarded in both Internal Medicine and Integrative Medicine.
Dr. Ando lives with her husband, who is an internist at the VA Hospital in Palo Alto, their two sons, and three dogs. Her hobbies include running half marathons, reading historical fiction and knitting sweaters for friends.
